Mainly in the spring; less so in the fall.Paul Magshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00495091813259481711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7763075223255003562.post-88603573828138179062019-11-12T07:44:55.926-07:002019-11-12T07:44:55.926-07:00That's great info Fieldtrip - thank you! The route I completed in 2018 was vastly different from the route I started in 2015. GC permits are a pretty good barometer because nearly everybody gets one and there's one key characteristic that almost everybody's permit shares (Nankoweap to the Beamer). Obviously not everyone gets permits or takes the same route in the Canyon, but it’s still a pretty decent metric. I found an increase from about 2-3 per year from 2000-2013, then a dramatic increase to 30-40 per year in 2017 and 2018. It’s changing alright.Fieldtriphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09843211959553638206noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7763075223255003562.post-56755759639127583992019-11-11T14:45:15.150-07:002019-11-11T14:45:15.150-07:00That's my rough estimate too. Congrats on your hike!<br />LarryBoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07234828576266704188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7763075223255003562.post-17988303987800587372019-11-11T10:46:00.143-07:002019-11-11T10:46:00.143-07:00I was curious about the number of hikers when i hi...I was curious about the number of hikers when i hiked this fall. Counting the numbers in the log book at Needles, taking to locals and park employees, i reckon there's been about 40 thru or long distance sections this year, most were in spring. Maybe 11 or 12 this fall. Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10370736887855869500noreply@blogger.com
